This week, Siena College had the honour of hosting Tozi Makoba from the Kopanang Community Project in Tsakane, South Africa. A beloved member of the Project, Tozi has warmly welcomed many Siena students as a host mother during past South Africa Immersion experiences. During her visit, Tozi shared heartfelt stories about life in Tsakane and the transformative work of the Kopanang Community Project. For decades, Siena College has proudly supported this initiative, funding school uniforms, providing educational assistance and contributing to the development of the Project’s facilities.
A highlight of Tozi’s time with us was the Immersion Reunion, where alumnae from past trips gathered, reflecting the enduring bonds and profound influence of these connections. Thank you Tozi for your inspiring stories, wisdom and the warmth you brought to our community. Your visit has deepened our appreciation for the extraordinary work of Kopanang and the spirit of sisterhood it represents.
