The Siena in Siena group has spent wonderful days exploring the beautiful cities of Florence, Pisa, Assisi and Sambuca. In Florence, students toured the historic San Marco Monastery, admired Fra Angelico's artwork, and explored the majestic Santa Maria Novella and the Duomo, while also strolling along the Ponte Vecchio. In Assisi, a hike to the top of Rocca Maggiore offered breathtaking views followed by a visit to the Basilica of St. Francis. There, our Year 9s learned about the life of St Francis, admired stunning frescoes and discovered the significance of the Franciscan crucifix. St Francis of Assisi is renowned for his deep humility, love of nature and dedication to ending poverty.
The students celebrated their last days in Tavarnelle with a final Mass alongside the community, followed by the completion of their community project. Their beautifully hand-painted pots symbolise the connection between Siena College and Tavarnelle.
